Russian President Meets with Thai PM
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on Saturday in his Novo-Ogarevo country residence.
The Russian president pointed to the progress in the bilateral relations saying that the mutual commodity turnover between the two countries may reach $1.7 billion by the end of the year. Putin lauded the Thai government for their achievements in the national economy and called the country’s low inflation rates and high economy growth a good sign.
The Thai Prime Minister hopes the commodity turnover will keep on rising. It is already known what may prompt this rise: Thailand wants to buy a few Su-30MKI fighter planes from Russia. In exchange, Thailand offers commodities – primarily, shrimps and tuna fish.
