The Words and Deeds
Of course, Washington could spend money and to invite two or three specialists from Moscow just to tell them that America doesn’t really gives a sh..t about Russia, as long as the last one does not meddle with the only super-power's zones of vital interests. After such move, one could start worry about the White House more than about even forgotten by America - Russia. These guys got something broken in theirs clock. And maybe because they can’t fix it, they have to restructure whole life plans and minimize the consequences of the broken mechanism.

The U.S. zone of vital interest is Middle East. And nothing goes right in there. It even started not quite as it was originally planned. But at least, in the beginning there was great mission statement, which announced – to free people from the authoritarian regime and help them to establish democracy. That was the main banner, which Bush was going to carry all way through his second term: we will bring democracy to everybody! You still don’t have one? Ok, here we are –coming your way. However, in broken mechanism of the clock the arm is frozen on the date of the future presidential elections in the USA. There is no time now for these high mission statements. What Levada, whom Americans invited themselves, is telling them about the authoritarian regime growth in Russia? Well, it grows all right. But, it is not the right time for this, guys! Now, it is more important to deal with Iranian nuclear program and with military bases in Central Asia. We got a lot of important things to accomplish before the elections. You also have elections coming. We just don’t have time for all this right now.

They have constantly exploding Iraq, where they try to vote for constitution between the explosions. This constitution supposes to symbolize the accomplished promise of the Republican president to shed the light of democracy for this poor country. They don’t have much progress in conversation with Iran either. And the dialog with Moscow about Iran doesn’t go well. It is obviously worth for Condoleezza Rice to turn around her plane and fly to Kremlin. The “Iranian File” is on UN Security Council desk -- is the reason for blitz flight to Moscow. And it is a paradox, which neither Rice nor Tom Graham want to understand: there is a direct connection between Levada’s description of Putin's Russia and Tehran’s statement (with nod to Russia and China) about its resolve to continue with the nuclear program.

Does America have enough brains, strength, time and ability to discover this connection? Ok. But why after Iraq, Washington decided not to pay too much of attention to the fact that there is a connection between the regime in any country and external policy of this regime? That’s great. Just don’t give this regime public free rein for everything and, thus, try to resolve your own problems. America has full right not to help miserable leftovers of the Russian democrats. However, if Washington publicly took upon itself the mission to be Universal Democratizer, it has no right to harm by saying publicly that Russia “as is” is not in the interest of the U.S. – in other words, Russia is ok for the United States.
