A big explosion rolled heavily in the eastern Moscow Monday, August 21, 2006, killing at least eight, including two children, and causing injuries to more than 40, RBC news agency reported.
The explosion broke out on Cherkizovo market at 10:27 a.m., MSK, said representatives of Russia’s Emergency Ministry, crashing the roof of around 100 sq meters and triggering the fire.

Ten crews of firemen are fighting the fire now and there are 12 ambulances nearby. Moscow Prosecutor Yury Semin, his deputy Alexey Grigoryev and investigators rushed to the place of the accident.

According to spectators, a gas cylinder exploded in one of the trading pavilions. But emergency officers say the reason was putting in operation some explosive device. Another supposition is two explosions, which hit the market with time difference of 15 minutes.
