Magazine Counts Billionaires’ Losses
Smart Money magazine has calculated the losses experienced by Russia’s leading businessmen due to the financial crisis. Rusal owner and major Norilsk Nickel shareholder Oleg Deripaska has suffered the most from the crisis, the magazine says, with losses totaling $28.4 billion. Novolipetsk Steel owner Vladimir Lisin ranked second on the list with losses of $21.7 billion due to falling stock quotations. Severstal owner Alexey Mordashov lost $16.6 billion.
Also on the list were former governor of Chukotka Roman Abramovich (down $15.1 billion). He owns shares in Evraz and Highland Gold mining company. Alisher Usmanov lost $14.4 billion and Alfa Group shareholder Mikhail Fridman has lost $13.8 billion. Main owner of Uralkalia Dmitry Rybolovlev is down $13.4 billion and Interros holding owner Vladimir Potanin lost $13.2 billion.

Magnitogorsk Metals owner Viktor Rashnikov and LUKOIL main owner Vagit Alekperov got off easy, comparatively, with losses of less than $10 billion.
