Hiddink Is the Favorite on Chelsea Shortlist
Chief coach of Russia’s national team, Guus Hiddink is the favorite on the shortlist of potential coaches of Chelsea. The club’s owner Roman Abramovich is considering a few other candidates, including Sven-Goran Eriksson of Sweden, The Guardian reported.
Abramovich is looking for a successor to Avram Grant, whom he has recently sacked. The Chelsea owner needs an expert to ensure spectacular performance of the team. In addition, he expects the coach to be capable of demanding discipline from players.

Although the list spells out young coaches as Roberto Mancini, Frank Rijkaard and Mark Hughes, an experienced candidate has more chances and Guus Hiddink is up to all requirements, according to The Guardian.

The Dutch coach will lead the Russian squad at the Euro 2008 championships but he has only verbal agreement about the contract extension till the end of the 2010 World Cup.
