Russia Won’t Supply Nuclear Fuel to Iran, Olmert Said
Russia won’t supply nuclear fuel to Iran, said Israel’s Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, specifying that he learnt about it past week, when meeting Russia’s President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Haaretz reported.
According to Olmert, Russia won’t supply nuclear fuel to Iran despite all rumors. The Kremlin realizes significance of this decision and is well aware that the international community opposes such supplies.
Contrary to Iran’s statements, they haven’t neared creation of nuclear weapons yet, so it’s high time to pressurize Tehran and make it yield its position. Olmert said he is for toughening sanctions that the UN Security Council and the EU have imposed on Iran.
On October 16, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin visited Tehran and talked with Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. It is known that the presidents deliberated on the nuclear program of Iran but no details have been given. Putin, however, pledged that Russia would complete construction of Bushehr nuclear plant that was shelved once Iran delayed funding the project.
After it, Putin met with Israel’s delegation in Moscow, and the abrupt resignation of Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani was reported straight after it.
