Patarkatsishvili Ready for Politics
Businessman Badri Patarkastishvili could be directly involved in the political life of Georgia. Patarkatsishvili came up with the respective statement October 10 in the live air of Imedi TV, where he is the founder.
Patarkatsishvili said he had got in touch with his foreign partners in Imedi and urged them to undertake financial issues for a while, as he couldn’t foresee what would happen in Georgia next day.
Patarkatsishvili pledged he would transfer the TV channel to another founder should he approach politics, so that no one would say he was exerting influence on political life of Georgia.
Earlier, Patarkatsishvili was forced to drop control over Georgia’s Olympic Committee and accused of plotting against the country.
The businessman said his presidency in the Olympic Committee was by far not his initiative and that he had supported the sport even before it. Patarkatsishvili also denied that the office of Olympic Committee chief granted immunity of any kind to him.
Influential and notorious businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili is one of the mates of Russia’s exiled oligarch Boris Berezovsky. Russia’s Prosecutor General Office added Patarkatsishvili to the wanted list on June 29, 2001, charging him in absentia along with Boris Berezovsky and Yuri Dubov. Patarkatsishvili is the biggest private investor in Georgia and the authorities declined the extradition request of Russia.
