Zubkov Needs Better Forecasts
At today’s meeting of government, Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov urged Economic Development Ministry to pay greater attention to improving quality of forecasts and analysis of social and economic advance of the country.
In the recent year, Zubkov told the cabinet today, the macroeconomic stability was attained in Russia and institutional reorganization was carried out. Rather high and stable economic growth was one more achievement.

At the same time, Zubkov went on, preparation and implementation of mid-/long-term programs of social and economic development are to became more exact. Economic Development Ministry “should pay special attention to improving forecasts” and to the system control over implementation of approved programs.

According to PM, the ministry has “special authority” for shaping social and economic policy of the country and efficiency of government’s work as a whole depends on the ministry’s execution of its targets and purposes. Economic Development Ministry “is aware of assigned responsibility,” Zubkov hoped.

Elvira Nabiullina took over Russia’s Economic Development and Trade Ministry on September 24, having replaced German Gref in the office.
