Basmanny Court OKed Arrest of 10 Over Politkovskaya Murder
Following the request of Prosecutor General Office, Basmanny Court of Moscow has sanctioned the arrest of 10 persons over the murder of Novaya Gazeta investigating reporter Anna Politkovskaya.
”Basmanny Court has granted the request of the RF Prosecutor General Office and chosen detention as the measure of restraint for Alexey Berkin, Dmitry Lebedev, Tamerlan Makhmudov, Jabrail Makhmudov, Ibragim Makhmudov, Oleg Alimov, Magomed Dimelkhanov, Ahmed Isaev, Sergey Khadzhikurbanov, Dmitry Grachev,” Moscow City Court briefer Anna Usacheva told Interfax.
All these persons are suspected of involvement in the assassination of investigative reporter Anna Politkovskaya.
Politkovskaya was shot dead in Moscow October 7, 2006, as she left her apartment to get into the lift. She was 48 and had the U.S. citizenship.
