Iran Doesn’t Doubt Bushehr Will be Constructed in Time
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad harbors no doubts that Russia will complete construction of Bushehr Nuclear Plant in time.
Mr Ahmadinejad said Russia’s President Vladimir Putin had promised him to complete Bushehr project in line with the schedule. I think Putin and Russia’s government will do it, Iran’s president told the reporters in Tehran, signalling this problem doesn’t trouble him much.

Putin and Ahmadinejad met in Bishkek in August during the summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Putting into operation Bushehr Nuclear Plant is slated for November 2007. But there is still a solid chance that the actual launch will be put off, at least the management of project contractor Atomstroiexport has expressed this idea, blaming the delay on irregular funding of work, which naturally affects installation of equipment.

Taken for five months, Bushehr arrears exceeded $100 million, Chief of Russian Federal Atomic Agency (Rosatom) Sergey Kirienko announced in June. In addition to payments due from Iran, Kirienko also mentioned the problems with equipment deliveries from the third countries. At the same time, the official emphasized absence of any political background in problems with Bushehr. “We think the project could be completed in the shortest time possible, when the funding is secured,” Kirienko pointed out.
