Russia has advanced to the fourth position in brewing, yielding only to China, the United States and Germany, ITAR-TASS reported.
Russia stepped up brewing by 9.8 percent past year to climb to the fourth position worldwide. It pushed down Brazil, but yielded to China, the United States and Germany, said the report of Kirin Co., which is one of Japan’s biggest makers of soft and low-alcohol beverages.
In terms of beer production and consumption, China has maintained the leading standing for the fifth year running. The 2006 output grew 14.7 percent to nearly 35.2 million kiloliters of beer.
In general, the growth in brewing is skyrocketing worldwide. The global production soared 5.8 percent to 170.14 million kiloliters past year. It is the biggest increase achieved in all history of respective statistics, Kirin pointed out.
