Russia Ready to Stand for U.N. Translator
Russia’s Foreign Ministry is ready to stand for Vyacheskav Manokhin, who was arrested in New York on suspected visa fraud schemes, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Mass Media Department.
“Russia’s Consulate General in New York spares no effort to clear up Manokhin’s destiny and is seeking to meet him. It is ready to provide all necessary defense to the legal rights and interests of the Russian citizen,” the ministry said in the statement.
U.N. translator Vyacheslav Manokhin was detained in New York on August 6. He is accused of using the U.N. letterhead to forge documents for foreigners as if invited to attend some U.N. conferences in New York. But those conferences were either never held or Manokhin’s clients had no intention to attend them.
